I hope you have gone through the week 1 post of this series & understood what a Chakra means. Today let us understand the first chakra - Root Chakra or Muladhar Chakra. 


I am sharing various aspects of the root chakra, and pointers to find if your root chakra is imbalanced & couple of modalities you can opt to balance your chakras. I want you to do a simple exercise at the end of this post.

Physical Location - At the base of the spine. 



Physical Characteristics - Adrenal glands, Bones, Teeth, Legs, Elimination system, Kidneys, Bladder, Blood

Non-Physical Characteristics - Survival & self preservation, connection to earth, basic needs, inner sense of security, initiates flight or fight response, connects with the spiritual energies of our ancestors, records memories from previous generations,

What Happens When This Chakra Is Balanced - Courage, stability, grounding, success in physical world, physical well being, financial abundance, fearless

What Happens When This Chakra Is Imbalanced (Blocked or Over Stimulated) - sense of fear, anxious, scattered, insecurity, negativity, eating disorders, lethargy, foot issues, constipation, loose motions, UTI, Kidney stones, financial problems

Associated Element (Panch Tatva) - Earth

Associated Color To Meditate - Visualize the color Red at the location of this chakra & concentrate. You may also chant the beej mantra of this chakra.

Beej Mantra To Meditate - Sounds create vibrations in the body, and these vibrations help the cells work together in synchronic harmony. The mantra sound that corresponds to the root chakra is LAM.



Yoga Poses To Balance This Chakra - Any pose that will help in grounding yourself with the earth like - Mountain Pose, Warrior Pose, Lotus Pose, Corpse Pose, Squatting Pose
(You can easily google up these poses if you do not know them)

Affirmations To Balance This Chakra -

I feel deeply rooted
I am connected to my body
I feel safe and secure
I have what I need
I am grounded, stable, and standing on my own two feet
I nurture my body with healthy food, clean water, exercise, relaxation, and connection with nature
I am open to possibilities
I am grateful for all the challenges that helped me to grow and transform
I trust in the goodness of life
I trust myself
I love life


Crystal To Heal This Chakra - Red Jasper, Bloodstone, Garnet

Healing With Nature - Engage in anything grounding or earth related activities like gardening, walking in grass, cooking, hiking etc.

Exercise To Do At Your End -
